It is perhaps worth saying that it is almost never useful or sensible to attempt the same thing ten times with a computer. If the first couple of times don't work for you, then you are almost certainly doing something wrong and should stop and think, so as to have a chance of working out what the problem is. If you continue to repeat the same process, you are very likely to see the same result. OpenOffice works well for very many users around the world, so it can probably work well for you, too. You just need to discover what mistake you are making.
i did everything 10 times. The program never once worked.
If you see the same behaviour twice, stop and think. Ask for assistance at that point. In doing so, do not just claim that the product doesn't work, but explain what you did and what you saw. Only if you do so will others be able to help you to find your mistake.
i am disgusted and sick of Open Office. what a great program. It teaches a person patience, the joy of repeated effort for no gain and the utter frustration of repeated failures.
In fact, this is not true. I'm glad that you seem to have learned that repeated identical unsuccessful attempts are frustrating and pointless. But all that has nothing to do with OpenOffice, which will install straightforwardly and effectively once you find your mistake.
By the way, you chose to write not to the authors of OpenOffice but to the "Users" mailing list, which comprises some 2500 *users* of OpenOffice around the world. They are likely to be mostly fans of the product and to be little influenced by your dismissive and unsubstantiated views. You have, nevertheless, an absolute right to hold these views, of course - and, indeed, to express them on this list.
