Hello everyone. I work for the Cherokee Nation Education and Curriculum
Development department, and we are considering using Open Office in our
Cherokee Language Immersion School. We have one of the largest Native
American language speaker populations in the U.S., so we have plenty of
translators on hand to help with translating the terms required for
localization.

I am confused about one thing, however. What exactly do we need to
translate? For example, I came across this page
http://l10n.openoffice.org/localization/Translation_Tips.html, and it
says there are approx. 120,000 words to translate. Then it links to the
glossary, which is a .csv file. I've looked at this file, and I do not
understand what it is for exactly. There are only a little over 7,000
terms in this file. Where are the other 113,000 terms? Is such a list
of ALL the required terms to translate available somewhere? The link
above also says "translate and define, whenever needed, the terms..."
The "whenever needed" section throws me off as this implies not every
term is needed. I just need some clarification over what needs and does
not need to be translated.

I hope my explanation of my problem makes sense. It would be greatly
appreciated if this could be explained a little bit more clearly to me.

Thank you,

Roy
