I have the version of open office that comes with opensuse 10.3.
About OpenOffice.org shows version 2.3.0

I am having problems with sound.

If I attach a sound with 'Insert/Movie and Sound' it works, that is
sound plays if I do a slide show. The file has to be an .ogg or an
.mp3 not a .wav file.

However the sound seems to be attached via a link the sound is not
part of the .odp. If I delete the sound file, or move the .odp to
another system where the sound file does not exist then the sound stops
working. I want to distribute the sound when I distribute the .odp.

On the other hand if I add sound using 'Insert/Object/Sound' then
the sound does not play at all. open suse 10.3.

Question is there any way to get 'Insert/Object/Sound' to work?
Are there any Linux distros where 'Insert/Object/Sound' works
out of the box?

The way 'Insert/Object/Sound' is supposed to work, is the sound
supposed to be included in the .odp or is it a link again?

Also with either of the above two methods, if I export to .swf
or to .html there is no exported sound. The exported Sound does
not appear in the .html files and the .swf file is silent when played
with firefox.

Are there any Linux distro in which this is not the case?

What is the state of Sound in Linux Impress?
