I just tried this under ubuntu 8.04 live which uses Open Office 2.4.0
and the 'Insert/Movie and Sound' exhibits exactly the behavior
described above.

'Insert/Object/Sound' is whited out. What package(s) need to be installed
to unwhite this option out?

Does anyone know of a distro where 'Insert/Object/Sound' works?

thank you.
