Replying on list with new subject, as it's relevant to the discussion,
even if it's not relevant to OOo.

I install KDE for users for these reasons:
1) I am familiar with it, and can better answer questions.
2) It is more similar to the Windows experience which is familiar to
many users (single toolbar at bottom of screen, with behaviour similar
to Windows taskbar).
3) It is more customizable and allows users the freedom to make the
computer their own, instead of forcing the GnomeWay, which is not much
better than the WindowsWay.

That said, I do have one user who uses Gnome. As soon as Ubuntu was
installed, he started exploring it like a child at a playground, I
didn't even have time to install KDE. He gets along just fine and
loves it. So I know that Gnome is very usable as well.
