Assuming it's the actual OpenOffice and not bastardized the installation doesn't currently create desktop or quick launch icons in most OS's. If you have a Programs folder, look there for the OOo programs. Alternatively you can go to program files and create shortcuts right from there. e.g. writer is swriter.exe, etc.. Depending on what you paid for it, OOo is open source and thus free to download; no charges, no license hassles, etc., it might be worth returning for a refund and getting the free version, which 99.9% of the time is identical to the selling version. Sometimes however people will bundle things together with OOo to make it more useful, so check it all out if you look into returning it.
