Yes, OxO replaces OOo during it's install. However, as I pointed out,
you can install parallel versions of OOo (including OxO) by following
the procedures in the link that I provided. That way you can actually
run OOo(whateverversion) and OxygenOffice at the same time for
comparison - provided of course that you have sufficient memory & cpu
power to do so.

OxO is based on the ooo-build (go-oo.org). So it provides considerably
more add-in's than the standard OOo. This means that it includes same
features of OOo provided to Novell and Debian/Ubuntu etc., users pointed
out in KAMI's notice, as well as other features.

My only wish would be that it didn't actually include all of the
"extras" (galleries, fonts, etc) and instead left those as add-on's so
that the base package isn't so large on first download.

The beauty of OOo is that it is opensource, so there can be different
flavours, derivitives, etc.
