Since 2.4 you can easily assign language to text with the help of status
bar control (left to zoom indicator) - see

Since 3.0 Writer will be able to assign language based on keyboard
layout - see http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=1035.

I am using version 2.4.0 of OpenOffice.org. My problem is :
I find the use of the spell-checking feature of Writer very cumbersome to use
when I try to correct texts in Italian or Spanish. Writer usually misidentifies
the language as Romanian, or something else.
Why can't I simply predetermine the language I am trying to write in?
