In the list of languages at Tools>Options>Language Settings>Languages
does German| (Swiss) have a little "abc" and a tick (check mark) next to
it? If not then you need to install the appropriate dictionary via
File>Wizards>Install New Dictionaries. Once you have installed those
then you can set the language either "for all documents" or "for this
document only". When you set the language, make sure the Quickstarter is
not running. There was a problem in that area but I can't remember if it
still existed in version 2.3.
