Hello James, *,

Just to wrap up this thread:
If you use landscape pages frequently it makes sense to include this
page style in the default template so that it is available in all the
new documents you create.

This is one of the issues already mentioned by Kirill so the following
instructions may not be needed in the future versions of OOo.

In this how-to you will replace the hard-coded Writer template with
your own template and make it the default template.

1) open a new document
2) create the landscape page style
3) (optional) change whatever else you want, default para style,
margins of the default page style etc...
4) File > Templates > Save...
5) give a memorable name to the template (e.g. MyDefault) and press OK
Note: now the template is available for use by selecting File > New >
Templates and Documents, select My Templates and then your template.
With the next steps we will make MyDefault the default template
6) Open a new document then follow steps 4) and 5) above giving the
template a name such as "OOoWriter default". This step is not needed
but it makes it very easy to revert to the in built template **for the
current version of OOo** if you so wish.
7) File > Templates > Organize. Select My Templates, then MyDefault.
8) click on the Command button to open a menu where you will select
Set As Default Template.

Done.

Cheers,

Michele :-D
