Finally, an intelegent argument _for_ top posting!

On a mailing list, one often cannot know which question is being
answered, so quoting the question is necessary. That is better done at
the top, WITH PROPER INDENTATION, where the reader can realize that he
already read the question and skip down to the answer.

Another reason is that the mailing list is archived on a message by
message basis. Those who STFA don't already know the question.
