[users] OOo_2.4.0_MacOSXIntel: OpenOffice.org is installed and in my Applications folder and on my Dock, but trying to open the App only brings up a window with File and Edit dropdowns in it, and their sub-items are greyed out. A black and white ball rotates extremely slowly -- less than a full rotation/minute.

I am using version OOo_2.4.0_MacOSXIntel.  I am running Mac OSX v. 5.2.  My
problem is my inability open the applications.  I have moved the
OpenOffice.org icon into my Applications folder and it is also residing on
my Dock, however, clicking it does not cause any of the applications to open
(nor does trying to open it from the Finder).  Rather, it brings up an
OpenOffice.org window with a menu bar with File and Edit drop downs all of
the sub-items of which are greyed out and a black and white ball that barely
rotates. I have the X11 application installed.
