It sounds as if you probably tried to get the download from the
www.openoffice.org site, which is the right place. There was no need to
make a donation; most people wait for a while to see if they like OOo
first, though donations are always appreciated. In any case, the files
available on that site for downloading are not corrupted. In some cases,
people have overly aggressive firewalls, or something may go wrong with
the download. You'll probably have better luck if you try again, perhaps
using a download manager. Another possibility is to get a CD. The site
lists several possibilities, though we can't guarantee any of them;
also, computer magazines often contain CDs with OOo and various other
open source programs.
