Oh, that's easy. I opened my eyes and saw the toolbar on the bottom of the window. And that also solved the problem of getting the video to play. it was originally an .flv file and since I couldn't get it to play I assumed it was not a supported file format. But after converting it to .mpg I still didn't realize the toolbar was down there. Once I saw it I had no further problems. Having said that, I should probably tell the documentation people that their instructions could use some clarity.
