Hi,
I got a new box, installed opensuse 10.3 x86_64 on it. Further I installed
openoffice from openoffice.org, not the one that comes with the
distribution.
So you did install the 32-bit version.... Does this appear to properly
use Java?
When I click the "Finish" button on the registration, after initial start,
OpenOffice freezes. After killing and restarting, the registration does not
come up again. So not a real big problem.
It also freezes when I try to print.
I've set the SAL_DISABLE_CUPS=1. Without that setting I can successfully
print to the printers that come from cups. But as I can change the defaults
of these printers when I hit the save button in kprinter, it is a pita to
use these printers directly from cups. Therefore SAL_DISABLE_CUPS=1, and
kprinter configured as generic printer via spadmin. When I then click on the
print button, in the openoffice print menu, this one disappears, but the
kprinter menu never shows up, and openoffice freezes.
I recently had this problem on a Windows XP computer, but that was an
O/S issue related to a printer driver that just flat out stopped working
for no apparent reason (and I could NOT install it again).
My first thought is "Java". If the proper Java is not properly installed
and working, you may see this type of behavior for portions that use
Java. I do not expect Java to be used while printing, however. Also,
Mechtilde had some comments... If the proper 32-bit libraries are not
installed, things will not work.
What happens with a version from opensuse?
