One way is to use Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down to the OpenOffice entry
and choose Change. Keep clicking Next/Continue until you see the option to
Modify, Reapir or Remove. Choose Modify. Two more Next's brings you to a
pane that lets you setOpenOffice as the default for each of the MS Office
document types.

Another way is to usethe standard Windows File Association mechanism; change
the assocoiation on a single document of each of the three document types -
.doc, .xls and .ppt. To change the association, right click a document,
choose Properties and set the Open With attribute to the program you want -
swriter.exe, scalc.exe and simpress.exe for document, spreadsheet and
presentation respectively or to soffice.exe for all three and let OpenOffice
figure out which module to invoke.
