Wait until you have been on this list for a few years and you will see that all the points you bring up will be brought up again over the time span.
I totally agree with most of your points but as more people start using OOo, the topics will keep coming up. The new users have no idea that these topics were discussed 6/12/24/48/... months ago. Some posters think that it is their newest/greatest idea.
Of course, explaining the various issues being discussed are also an attempt to help users.
