Lisi Reisz ?????:
I have a delete button :-) So do you.
And you do not have problem with spam either, don't you?
You are, of course, free to unsubscribe. But I do not see the main purpose
being to "help people joining the OO community to learn how to use Open
Office". That is certainly one of its purposes - but it is, I would have
thought, also to enable people to help each other and to build up a
supportive community.
http://support.openoffice.org/index.html
"Users Mail List - community support provided by a network of hundreds
of experienced users."
You see - support.
And even if we accept your description offtopic is bad - it encourages
people to leave (many have expressed their dislike of offtopic and
countless have silently left).
I too dislike political and religious discussions. But I do not have to read
them. And I dislike even more those emails which try to dictate what
everyone else must do. Even the moderators only _request_. Tho' I do feel
that we should respect their requests. Which is why I did not reply before
to your _OT_ post. However, now that you have written again to criticise the
community, I feel that I must point out that no-one is forcing you to stay.
No one is allowed to damage the community by flooding unsuspecting users
with hardcore offtopic. As moderators do not seem to be doing their job
we need to selfdiscipline ourselves and develop a policy. As we are
supposedly a democratic community this is done by majority opinion and
majority does not seem to like offtopic.
