I am writing some very huge book of around 680 Pages (A5) each and
since I do not want to use glue-bindings (Paper-Back), but stitched

chunks of around 32-36 pages which would be 170 sheets in A4 Format.
Now I have tried by selection to print only the first 64 pages in
two chunks but it does not work...
Is it possible to do this in oowriter WITHOUT reformatting the book,
(e.g. creating two different Master-Documents and then put the files
together How the can be correctly printed OR viewed?
You say that you are printing "by selection". There appears to be a
bug in this: at least, it doesn't appear to work properly in my 2.4
for Windows XP. And that may be your only problem. You get what I
believe you need if instead you select Pages under "Print range" in
the Print dialogue and then enter the required page range in the box.
I have just created a 64-page document and printed both "1-32" and
"33-64". This produced the two sets of sixteen sides (eight sheets)
that you require - what I believe are known as "signatures".
Incidentally, if you want to test things like this, it is handy to
have a separate PDF writer installed as a virtual printer. I've
established all the above by printing to such a virtual printer
without wasting any paper or toner.
I trust this helps.
