I'm doing a study of spam and I need to break the date & time field I'm getting from log files into separate date fields and time fields. Currently it is all one: "05/13/08 12:32 PM" I need it to be: "05/13/08" and "12:32 PM".

If your values are always in exactly this format, you just need the first eight and the last eight characters respectively. You can obtain this by using
     =LEFT(x;8)
and
     =RIGHT(x;8)

But how are other times represented? Would the time an hour later be "01:32 PM" or "1:32 PM"? If the latter, you may need to retrieve the time using
     =MID(x;FIND(" ";x)+1;99)

The more exceptions there are, the more you may need to refine these formulae.

I trust this helps.
