[users] Mac specific question

I have OpenOffice 2.4 loaded and it works.  I have two questions that  
seem to be specific to my iMac.  Clicking on the icon on the desktop  
loads OpenOffice and x11, but doesn't open Open Office.  I have to go  
down to the dock and open it by right clicking on it and telling it  
to open.  Minor, but I don't think it's supposed to work that way.   
Second question,  much more important.  When I'm done with Open  
Office, it has completely filled the screen and I can find no  
keystroke combination to regain control of the computer.  I can close  
OpenOffice but I have a grey screen remaining the will not go away  
unless I turn off the machine and restart it.  I'm sure this isn't  
the way it's supposed to work, either.  Any help would be appreciated  
because this doesn't seem to be addressed in FAQs.  Thank you.
