Brian & James, Thanks to both of you for taking the time. Yes I
have microsoft windows but not microsoft office. I've tried to avoid
paying Bill any more than necessary. This is why I use open office.
What I don't understand is that when I try to save my open office file
it doesn't give me a Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc) option. I only
have open office and star writer options (see below). I used to have
the microsoft option in what I guess was an older version of open
office a long time ago. I just downloaded the most recent version and
yet still when I try to save documents there are no microsoft
options. Does this have anything to do with the fact that I've been
using the master document part of the software? Is there some way I
can correct this in preferences or options or set up of open office
2.4? Thanks, Paul
These are the options I get:
ODF Master Document .odm
Open Office 1.0 master Document .sxg
Star Writer 5 Master Document .sgl
Star Writer 4 Master Document .sgl
Text Encoded (Open Office.org Master Document........can't read the
rest of this and this is the last option
It certainly appears that master documents is the cause. I only get the
above selections too, when I have master document open. However, since
I've never had reason to use master documents, I can't advise further.
