Your reply didn't appear to be CC'd, so yes, possibly a "Gmane thing".
As to how we tell; It's in the Delivered-To headers. If there's one
with the word "Moderator" in it, it's from an un-subscribed poster.
I use Gmane. When I CC someone the header is included in the post to the
list. I'm CCing myself this message to double check this.
