I installed DEV300_m19 on SUSE Linux.
When I look at Tools|Options|OOo General|Java, I see "Free Software Foundation 1.4.2" version is available. When I choose "Add", and point to the folder "/usr/lib/jvm/java-1_4_2-sun-1.4.2.13/jre", then OOo complaints that the folder does not hold a jre. However, when I look at the OOo 2.4.1 installation, it does point to that same directory for the Jave JRE
So I'm puzzled...

Anyone an idea what can be wrong, or able to test on it's own system?

When Fedora 8 had this problem, they claimed that it was related to Operating system issue and I had to use the Fedora distribution. This was not the case for Fedora 7 or Fedora 9.

Thanks for your reply.
But who is "they"? The OOo development/support?
No, it was certainly not the OOo people that indicated the Fedora specific problems.

Some issues, I obtain answers directly from the developers. For example, I know that the problem with Macros in 64-bit Fedora 9 build was fixed because I exchanged email with the person that fixed the bug and checked it in. This bug, however, was specific to Fedora.

As for the JRE not working for Fedora 8, well, that was a long time ago so I do not remember how I found about about that. I probably received an answer on the Fedora forums. I wish that I could remember.

I am using the m19 development build that includes the JRE... I should also note that I am using the 32-bit OOo even though I am running a 64-bit Linux.
