I have a question about the Math module. I tried to look it up on OO's
website but got redirected to a website that seems irrelevant, I was
redirected to OO's version of Excel.

What's up with the Math module: is it like Mathematica, Maple or
MathType? Anyone knows? Is there a website that does describe the
feature?

The Math module is mathematical formula editor for use with OOo Writer. Open Writer and then select New → Formula. This will open OOo Math. Select Help → OpenOffice.org Help which will provide some instructions as to how to use this.

See also the document “Math Objects: The Equation Editor” at the bottom of page http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors/ . This is rather an old document, so will probably be slightly inaccurate in some cases.

Oops, forgot to mention. The module is normally used when you want to insert a formuls in Writer, Calc, or Impress. Use Insert → Object → Formula... to do this and it will open MathOO.
