I am trying to use Impress to run a presentation from a script (under linux). What I need is to have Impress stop completely when the presentation ends instead of exiting to the edit screen. Is there any way to do this?

For a variety of reasons, I find magicpoint is the best program for showing songs in church, but I am wanting something with a bit more interest for notices. The script that I use is as follows:
mgp -F 0,0,0 ../songlist.mgp
/opt/openoffice.org2.4/program/soffice.bin -show Notices.odp
mgp -F 0,0,0 ../songlist.mgp

The ideal is for openoffice to completely quit when the operator presses "Esc" and to then re-start magicpoint, ready for the next song. Having OO go to the edit screen, then requiring the operator to click the exit button is a bit of a distraction. The IR receiver on the projector is broken and so we can't just turn it off easily.

I don't know - but there may be workarounds. The operator doesn't have to "click the exit button"; instead, s/he can use Ctrl+Q - which may be more straightforward. Under Windows, there is the alternative of Alt+F4. (Are these the same under under Linux?)

Better still, you could configure Esc to close Impress in this installation of OpenOffice, so that the operator would just press Esc twice - once to quit the slide show and again to close Impress. To do this:
o Go to Tools | Customize... | Keyboard.
o Choose just Impress or all parts of OpenOffice.org using the radio button, as preferred.
o Select Application under Category and Exit under Function.
o Select Esc under Shortcut keys.
o Press Modify.

I trust this helps.
