Without knowing why it crashed, it's hard to say. However, if there's a
problem with the software, a reinstall often help. Also, v1.0.2 is
somewhat ancient. Perhaps you could install the latest (currently
2.4.1) version or, if you need a 1.x version, 1.1.5, which is the latest
1.x version. Both are available from www.openoffice.org.
