Hi, I'm in the process of migrating the company I work forfrom Microsoft Office to OpenOffice, and we are getting bombarded with user issues and complaints. Most of which can be curcumvented however I'm stuck with this one and am wondering if anyone can help.
In some departments there are spread sheets used by multiple users throughout the day. If opening them in MS Excel, a warning is generated stating "<filename> is locked for editing by <username> Click notify to open a read-only copy of the document and recieve notification when the document is no longer in use". You can then either open in Read only mode, or in notify mode. When a similar situation occurs in Open Office, the dicument is opened without warning & the only way to tell is that "read only" is displayed in the title bar. As the majority of the users within the company are technophobes, this isn't sufficient for them & we've already lost several hours work. I've browsed through all the options t.n.a. Can some one advise if i've missed something and there is a way to display warnings about the document state or if this is something Open Office simply cannot do? Many Thanks Jordan Fey --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
