Just as easy on Windows. The chances are high these days that the
download isn't corrupt so just run it; if it's corrupt the OS will
complain.
I often use md5sum to verify a CD or DVD ISO file. In the past, I had
burned some coasters, because I had a corrupt ISO file and didn't know
it. After I started checking with md5sum, that problem didn't happen again.
