Now I was confused when I replied - I'm always muddling text /boxes/
and text /frames/ -- and I now see the OP explicitly said /frame/
(and implied Draw for that matter - I really must remember to read
well before replying :-) ). If he meant /frame/, he must have been
using Writer (using Insert|Frame) - afaik Draw doesn't allow text
frames(*). And in this case a formula object appears to be insertable
into a text /frame/ in the obvious way and behaves as part of the
frame.
If he meant text /box/ (ie the thing you get by clicking the T in the
drawing tools bar), then my comment stands - with cursor inside the
text box, in Writer, the Insert|Object menu entries are greyed out,
while in Draw they're available -- but an inserted formula has its
own existance separate from the text box. I can't see why your
mileage should be so different :-(
Perhaps the OP could clarify what he wants to achieve? Is this in
Draw or Writer, and was it a text frame or a text box?
