But that's not actually "in" the text box. Which will matter when the 
box is moved and the formula doesn't move with it.

And in Writer? Maybe I'm confused, but I'm almost sure someone said 
they could do this in both.

But I really think the OP needs to clarify exactly what he did and 
what he wants to achieve. As I said, he talks about "drawing tools" 
and text /frames/" (not boxes). Which kind of implies he's using 
writer and writer's tools.
