Yes: you can adjust the x-axis scaling if you choose "XY (Scatter)"
instead of "Line" for the Chart Type. You can still create a line
graph with or without points.
Thanks. With some fiddling around I solved the problem with the line
chart. But I can't make vertical grid lines appear. In Format >
Grid > only the Y Axis Major Grid... is selectable.
That's at Insert | Grids...
