Hi Phil; Unwanted capitalization used to annoy me to no end. But I haven't had a problem for a couple of versions of OOo Calc.

I use OOo Calc 2.4.1 I use the Linux version. First thing to try is Tools => Cell Contents => uncheck AutoInput. Then try Menu Tools => AutoCorrect ... => Options Tab => Correct TWo INitial Capitals is unchecked (false) and Capitalize the first Letter of every sentence is unchecked (false) That should do it. However to be doubly sure when I experimented with your problem, I went the Tools menu again and selected Options at the bottom of the menu drop down bar. In the Options dialogue, I selected "Language settings => Writing Aids => Options and unchecked "Check spelling as you type","Check upper case words" and uncheck marked "Check words with numbers". Next, still in the Options dialogue, I selected OpenOffice.org Calc => Sort Lists and made sure there were no sort lists that might be substituting themselves for the letters I had been typing into the cells. To be even more careful I then I selected and formatted the rows that I wanted the chords to appear in as text. (Select row; right click; format cells, probably shows as 'Number'; change it to text). The actions in these last two paragraphs should not be necessary. However, I have been frustrated over an application not doing what I expect myself and have inadvertently changed the setup without being able to see or remember the change. So try the things I have outline. Hopefully you will be surprised. Later twiddle and tweak the settings until you can get what you want when you want. > >> Similarly I have a budget spreadsheet using OO. I have a column for > >> my Health Savings Account (HSA). If you still have problems get back to the list. You are not supposed to have those kinds of issues. In my experience, giving a user choices are the kinds of things that OOo does much better then M$. -- Regards Bill Fedora 9, Gnome 2.22.3 Evo.2.22.3.1, Emacs 22.2.1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
