Perhaps I wasn't clear. I meant that it is a drag to manually change the size of all normal text used in equations (e.g. you are using units in normal text). In general the normal text can be used in all equations. most common example are derivations in which is usual to justify where a step comes from. That justification is in normal text font, not formula font. I was expecting that the normal text in equations is typeset in the default font of the paras. Or at least the normal text should have a style associated with it. I understand that it is not a drag in your case as you have only one equation to deal with. But with OOo being a document processor, this should be dealt with in a more general way, IMHO. For all I know, maybe it is being done already, I just haven't had a chance to verify it yet. You might have read my other posts; I am trying out OOo for academic writing. So I am going to hit this sooner or later.
