I think the best would be that you open a new SO question. Include your
code and all relevant PDFs, i.e. old and result. I don't know if mkl
reads here, but he's often on stackoverflow.
If you need more time to create a good question, just upload the result
PDF and post the URL. Maybe I'll understand something from there.

create the layer, but apparently anything written to the page does not go
into the new layer. Apparently what i'm missing is how to associate
