Yes, but you don't answer the question, is your concern long term or
short term?

I believe that trunk and any release candidates or betas of qpid-cpp must build against an existing proton release. Therefore any change to make qpid-cpp require 0.7 at a minimum must wait until 0.7 is released.

A change to force a particular version of proton should ideally occur before alpha, and certainly in beta (or a day or two before) to ensure adequate testing of the combination.
