I used to have same error but unfortunately it can be anything imho,
error 502 seems to appear in any case or most of them. For my setup when i used to get those messages, it was due to vacations and mail forward enabled while sieve was not installed on the remote mail server. Have a look in the logs of sogo and /var/log/mail/error, it maybe could help ?
