Ok here is a recap of what I have so far and what is working from
what I can tell.
In both SOGo web interface and Lightning I can look up a resource and
"invite" it to a meeting.
If the resource is already booked it will show the dark blue line for
the time it is booked in both interfaces.
It appears that auto accept is working as the emails I have forwarded
to a real user show the (accepted) under Attendees.
As mentioned above I have the email addresses for the resources setup
as an alias to a real user. The email is setup in LDAP so it is a
"real" user.
In the web interface ONLY I get a popup saying that the resource has
a time conflict. However it does not keep me from saving the entry
and thus double booking the resource. It simply says "continue" or
"edit entry"
In lightning all I get is the blue "busy" box in the timeframe, even
if I try to invite an actual person that I know is already busy it
just lets me do it. Could this be a lightning issue, SOGo, or
possibly both?

I might be able to help a bit. I'm not using LDAP, instead using SQL
db for our users and events, but I don't think this makes much difference.
We have a system with a conference room, pool car with multiple
bookings set to '1'.
For these resources, I booked a room and car for a date and time in
Lightning. When I try and make another booking at same time, (in fact
an overlap of the period), in Lightning its ok, is shown on the
calendar too, till I try to save the event, which then says in
slightly annoying fashion :-
/'An error occurred when writing to the calendar Calendar name' ...
/If you press the 'Details' button it says /MODIFICATION FAILED./ I've
attached a screenshot.
Of course the web cal works much better in this respect, but at least
Lightning stops you from saving the event, its just clunky with
showing an error.
I'm using 1.3.8, with latest Lightning 1.0b2.105i, Integrator and
Connector.
There have been improvements in Lightning itself ie now up to 1.0b5,
and latest Lightning sogo version 1.0b2106pre has fixes for the much
improved reloading of calendars. Whether there's any fixes,
improvements to get rid of the error message in this case and replace
it with something more suitable, I don't know.
Perhaps you could consider sponsoring this effort with Inverse ?
I hope this helps

Julian,
That does help some. At least I know it is possible to have some
sort of popup when an even it trying to be double booked. My problem is
everyone that has said they have it working is using SQL db for users
and such instead of LDAP. If I read Ludovic's message right it is
possible with LDAP also and I must just have something set incorrectly.
The problem is what though?
As for sponsoring the lightning stuff, I would love to. However being a
state agency and all the red tape we would both have to go through to
get any kind of funding, unless it is less than $100 where it can come
from petty cash, would be immense. This is just the way the government
is setup and I really don't like it. They can spend tens of thousands of
dollars on microsoft and closed source products but cannot spend 1/100th
of that on improving an open source project. As soon as I personally
come across some extra money I do plan to help out the project though
because I do believe in it wholeheartedly.
