Hello
I ask this question as we have found on a few occasions Thunderbird
3.1 locks up solid when using remote address books served our via
sogo, not ldap. Others have found this to be the case on this list in
the past. I'm wondering if Thunderbird 10 is any better, or whether
its still an issue.
Effectively, you type in the compose field an address, and the whole
of Thunderbird seizes up. Its also related to these particular bugs:-
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=608041 autocomplete
requests lose key presses when server response is slow
& http://www.sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=1148 Thunderbird losts key press
entering email address; Note point 0002152
Apologies for answering my own question, but on some very basic tests so
far, there is quite an improvement in the response time when composing
an email or Inviting an attendee to an event. Previously, it would take
a second or two for email addresses to be returned using carddav, which
doesn't sound long, but did make the application feel sluggish in use.
Now with Thunderbird 10 and associated connector, lightning 1.2.1 and
integrator these email addresses appear almost instantaneously.
I am not totally sure if this will fix my related issue above where on
occasion composing an email hangs the whole of Thunderbird but certainly
there has been something that has changed, which can only help ..
