I'd love to see proper packaging for Debian+derivatives, but it's not
going to happen anytime soon, specially the way SOGo relies on
unsupported, manually-installed packages both in ZEG and the regular
releases.
Seriously, get your facts straight. What do you think we've been doing
in the past months? We've been working with Jereon and Jelmer on
improving SOGo/SOPE/OpenChange/Samba4 packages for Debian. It takes
time, lots of time. Meanwhile, we're providing packages for almost all
relevant releases of Debian and Ubuntu, let alone CentOS and RHEL.
This prevents any type of vendor-provided (ie. Canonical, etc.)
commercial support and ties your production systems to Inverse's support
which I was told would change its model but hasn't in a while.
This is stupid. Anyone can get SOGo support from whoever they want. Lots
of folks here are so all around the world and working with us in
improving SOGo. Because you don't know them doesn't mean they don't
exist, and are increasing in numbers.
Perhaps Ludovic can provide an update on this situation?
There's no update. We've been defining our partnership program for many
months now and we're in discussion with many parties providing key
components on which SOGo relies (LDAP server, database server, IMAP
server, etc.). We want a good program, that will benefit everybody and
we're getting there. No need to spread FUD.
