Thank you, Peter!
You're welcome.
(I am presuming that's your given name.)
Yes, it's right. Hungarian and Japanese people use the
surename-givenname order :)
Thank you so much! I find LDAP confusing, and honestly, I've found no
reliable HOWTO online.
Your directions were explicit and correct, and I truly appreciate the
time you took to answer.
I will now proceed (when the server is less busy) to install Samba4,
provision it and get on with my work.
Here's the output showing it was successful:
adam@sogo:/etc/default$ sudo service slapd start
* Starting OpenLDAP slapd [ OK ]
adam@sogo:/etc/default$ sudo netstat -lnptu | grep slapd
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:10389 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 753/slapd
tcp6 0 0 :::10389 :::* LISTEN
753/slapd
Perfect :)
If you want to use any openldap over ssl at the future, you need to use
'ldaps:///' sentence at that line or 'ldaps://:<portnumber>' if you want
to modify the default (636) tcp port.
