389-ds is working for us. The bug report mentioned relates to password policies. I think your problem is that sogo does not find your configuration. Like it says in your log file: 'No authentication sources defined - nobody will be able to login. Check your defaults.'
You need to check what is wrong there. Can you post your sogo.conf ?
