Well that was my original solution, but apparently these files (esp. bayes_journal are deleted an re-created over time, hence the bayes_file_mode parameter. So what it boils down to, I guess. is why bayes_journal does not respect the bayes_file_mode setting? Or am I missing a large piece of the puzzle? Thanks for your continued assistance JP
