I recently switched to Verizon and, at the same time, I dropped my two land lines and had these numbers ported over to my Verizon mobile phones.
Overall, I was very impressed with the coverage. It worked better than expected. However, sadly, my house was in a dead spot. Considering my strategy (giving up the land lines), this was awful. I could see the tower bars dropping down on the phone as I approached my home... and they'd build back if I continued passed my home and in the other direction. However, I made several calls to Verizon and worked my way to the "towers dept" in their S.E. Corporate office. This must have done the trick because my coverage from my house improved dramatically a few weeks later. (I don't think that any other provide would have been this responsive). Also, another observation about mobile providers and QoS: Often, the a person may blame the provider when the problem is actually an aging phone and/or a phone which has never had the newer towers programmed into it (*228). You really have to make sure you have a phone that is not more than a couple of years old and make sure you've updated the towers info before you can blame the provider for your problems. (many people don't know this). In fact, I was one of these... I thought my old provider, Cingular, really, really sucked... but it turns out that it was my ignorance. Rob McEwen
