Telnet (someone who does NOT use smtp screwup on cisco pix:
220 mx1.bct.ionspam.net ESMTP

Telnet to someone who DOES you get crap like this:

220 ********** ************ ********

(violates the RFC's)

No ESMTP in banner, guess what? No SIZE in mail from.

(funny, cisco knows it screws stuff up, so they don't even use it:

telnet sj-inbound-a.cisco.com 25
Trying 128.107.234.204...
Connected to sj-inbound-a.cisco.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 sj-inbound-a.cisco.com ESMTP
