That is bad answer. The proper answer was the one that advised using your
OS/distribution's packaging system first, and only use CPAN when the first
variant is not possible.

Always use your OS/distributions packages and only install them manually if
the first is not possible.

That will preserve you from having problems with multiple/broken packages
installed and also will assure security upgrades unless you are using
unsupported OS/distro.
