I wouldn't expect 100% CPU usage. I would expect that most of the wait time is pushing the bytes through the NIC. Gotcha. I have no experience with vmstat and iostat, so I'd mostly be collecting the data for others to peruse. But, I'm happy to do it (especially if it won't favor one piece of software over the other merely by /running/).
