Well, that's an excellent reason. I'm not crazy about Groovy myself tbh, though my opinion is heavily colored by my experiences years ago when it was still in alpha. Since then it got much better I hear. And there are plenty of people who seem to like Grails. Anyway, I don't want to hold you back on creating something fun for Wicket :-) We can give you write access to wicket-stuff if you want your project to live there.
