why? we just have a protected factory method now for a cache implementation that must be a map.
if you open up the api to change the implementation of the cache - there are other implementations than map... why limit it to map? (actually, I don't really understand the cache.containsKey(cacheKey) at all since it could just be checked for null when getting the value)...
