Thanks a lot to all. Finally it worked. I added AjaxFormUpdatingBehavior (triggered on onblur) to the textfield and used AjaxSubmitLink for the link, and now it works.
One confusion though. I tried using AjaxLink and it didn't work. As I understand that AjaxFormUpdatingBehavior should be invoked on blur event, this has nothing to do with the nature of the link, then how come making the link-non-submitting doesn't work?
